Domino’s is an American pizza chain and has over 40,000 locations worldwide. The company has been in business since 1983 and is known for their large pizzas and fast delivery. They also have an extensive menu of sandwiches, sides, and desserts. The company has several different training programs for new hires and offers competitive pay. Domino’s is also working on expanding their delivery service through the use of robots and drones. Domino has many uses and meanings. One of the most common is a domino effect, which refers to a change in one thing that causes a chain reaction of other changes. For example, if someone decides to start exercising more, they may begin eating healthier foods as well. This is the domino effect because exercising more often will cause people to have more energy and want to eat better, which then leads to them eating less unhealthy food. The other meaning of domino is a small rectangular wooden or plastic block, about thumb size, with one face bearing from six to eight dots or spots and the other blank or marked with an arrangement of dots resembling those on dice. It is normally twice as long as it is wide, which makes it easier to re-stack after use. A complete set of dominoes includes 28 pieces. The term is also used to describe any of a number of games played with these blocks, where players place them in lines and angular patterns to create a domino chain. Lily Hevesh first started playing with dominoes when she was 9 years old. Her grandparents had a classic 28-pack and she loved setting them up in straight or curved lines, flicking the first one and watching it knock down every other domino in the line. Now, at 20, Hevesh is a professional domino artist and has a YouTube channel with more than 2 million subscribers. She creates amazing domino setups for movies, TV shows, and even events like album launches. When a domino is standing upright, it has potential energy because of the way its sides are arranged. When the first domino falls, that potential energy turns to kinetic energy, which is what causes the rest of the tiles in the chain to fall as well. It is important that a domino is positioned properly in order to have the maximum amount of kinetic energy. For example, a tile placed next to a double should be perpendicular to it and touch both matching ends completely. As a Domino’s CEO, Brandon Doyle promoted this value of listening to employees and customers. This led to many changes, including a relaxed dress code and leadership training program. It helped to revitalize the company and turned around a sagging stock price. He also encouraged his team to use innovative technology to improve the company’s efficiency and speed up delivery times. Doyle is now retired from the company, but his legacy lives on at Domino’s.
